About Events
THE HOLROYD MUNICIPAL SHIELD:
This carnival usually held early October each year , between the 3 little athletic clubs within the Holroyd City council area. These clubs are Holroyd, Greystanes and Girraween. It is held on a rotating basis between the 3 clubs home grounds. It is held on a Sunday generally starting 10.00am first call 9.45. It's a fun and free carnival.
GARTH ROBINSON INTER-CENTRE COMPETITION:
This is competition between the little athletic clubs within our zone and is held Wednesday nights starting at 6.00pm. Dates , venues and events vary each season between the clubs home grounds ,. Generally there are 4 rounds each season, with each age group competing only once with a maximum 2 competitors per event per club. Notes are handed out to children that will represent Holroyd in these events, not all children in these age groups will be selected so please let us now if you are available to compete, could the parents of the selected children please stay at the ground to assist to run the events.
GREAT WESTERN CHALLENGE:
This is similar to the Holroyd Shield were we compete against Kings Langley, Girraween and Minchinbury little athletics centres. It is held on a rotating basis between the 4 clubs home grounds. It is held on a Sunday generally around mid October to mid November, starting 9.00am first call 8.45. It's a fun and free carnival.
ZONE MULTI-EVENT CARNIVAL:
This is an individual point system, so each child has to complete all their events listed to receive maximum points. This carnival is open to everyone who belongs to a little athletics club not just our zone.Make sure you turn up if you have entered ( there is a small fee to enter this carnival ), with full uniform, registration number and age patch. This Multi Day offers the best chance for children to win a trophy or medal, as 25% of all children will win one. It is held on a Sunday generally the 3rd week in October.
CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
There are 4 Championship nights during the season, no announcements will be made prior to these evenings, so regular attendance is important. All events carry points, races will be graded, and three attempts for field events. To be eligible for a Centre Championship Trophy at the end of the season your child/children should try to attend all four nights for the best results. The Centre Championship trophies are separate from the weekly point score awards.
THE LAPATHON:
This is our major fund raising event for the year, which helps us raise money for the presentation in March, sponsorship forms are handed out a couple of weeks before the lapathon which is generally the 1st Friday in November. Prizes are given for best fancy dress, most money raised to name a few.
